Description: The flag of the U.S. with 13 stars was officially
adopted on June 14, 1777. The current flag with 50 stars, has
been in use since July 4, 1960, when Hawaii was added as the 50th
state. Each star represents a U.S. state. There are 7 red stripes
and 6 white stripes. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies.
The white signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness &
valor, and Blue, the color of the Chief (the broad band above
the stripes) signifies vigilance,
perseverance & justice. The music of the United States is
a multi-ethnic blend of styles similar to its diverse population.
Some of these styles include rock and roll, country, rhythm and
blues, jazz and hip-hop. Latin music has long influenced American
popular music, and was an especially crucial part of the development
of jazz. Some of the typical instruments used in these genres
are the guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, banjo, saxophone, trumpet,
clarinet and the piano just to name a few.
